The Office of the Director of Studies (D.O.S) began in May 2004 as a response to a regulation by Ministry of Education & Sports‘. The duty of this office is to manage the process of teaching and learning on a daily basis. To date, Teso College has had four (4) Directors of Studies.
The Office of the Director of Studies (ODS) oversees all academic activity, conducts monitoring and evaluation of academic excellence, and coordinates course preparation and testing.
A key aspect of the ODS is to ensure the quality and intensity of teaching. We encourage teachers to master curriculum content and to apply teaching methods that meet learners‘ needs. To this effect we support rigorous planning by our teachers. We also set high expectations for frequent teaching times and quality teaching materials (an area in which TCA has great need). Student excellence is supported through a variety of means, in particular access to Departmental libraries for research and practice. Students are also offered guidance on career paths and career trends for various fields.
To maintain standards of excellence, TCA engages in monitoring and evaluation activities. These include maintaining student and faculty attendance and analyzing tests and school performance in National Examinations as well as University Admissions to various Programs. Evaluation and monitoring reports are used to support the Career Department‘s efforts to inform students on changing trends in the Public Universities and the available programs for Government Sponsorship. Analyses and reports are also used to carry out at least three guidance sessions in the year for candidate classes to increase awareness of the competitive job market.
Other activities of the ODS involve supplementary lessons for students and the coordination of internal tests and seminars.

Teso College Aloet’s admissions to government scholarship for the last eight years: University academic years. Reasons as to why we are not doing to our expectations
- Most of the students we get on official admission don’t turn up due to the following reasons:
- Their parents take some to Schools in the Central.
- Some fail to turn up because their parents cannot afford to raise fees for Teso College and therefore end up in the Private school within town.
- Those who pass well in their UCE do not want to come back saying they cannot stay in the same school for six. “They want change of the environment”.
- For these reason we are forced to for supplementary admissions were we pick those who have tried to pass in division two. This explains why most of our students pass in division two in their UCE.
Comparatively, in the region Teso college has tried to maintain its level of academics.
How we plan to mitigate the risks inhibiting us from achieving our expectations
