Chemistry homework might be a pain, but a world without chemistry would be an even bigger one. Without chemistry we wouldn’t have most of the medicines that keep us from getting sick, or stop us from feeling the pain of a headache, broken bone, or tooth extraction.
Chemistry is a central science that permeates all of our lives. Without chemistry our lives would be dull, dark, boring, and short.
Without chemistry people would die much younger from diseases such as bubonic plague, since we wouldn’t have antibiotics. We wouldn’t have vaccines, so people would still contract terrible illnesses such as smallpox and polio. Even a simple skin infection might lead to death.
Even while we were healthy, life would be much more boring without chemistry. The dyes that are used to tint our clothes and buildings in bright colors are made with chemistry. Many of the seasonings that make our food taste good use chemistry, too.
